Microsoft investigating Win 7 battery warning issues

Microsoft has confirmed it is investigating a problem causing some Windows 7 users to receive incorrect battery warnings on their laptops. Windows 7 RC expiration prompts begin in two weeks

Microsoft has issued a reminder that in two weeks Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC) users will begin receiving expiration notifications.Windows 7 RC does not expire until 1 June 2010 but from February 15 users will begin seeing expiration notifications in the task bar one time per day and then a Notification Wizard one time every four hours and then one time every hour.

Microsoft has sold over 60 million Windows 7 licenses, Q2 results

Microsoft today announced a record revenue for the second quarter ended Dec. 31, 2009. Microsoft confirmed it had sold more than 60 million Windows 7 licenses in the second quarter making it the fastest selling. The revenue increase was a 14% increase from the same period of the prior year resulting in $19.02 billion revenue for the second quarter.

Microsoft makes the best free anti-virus software. According to anti-malware testing group AV-Comparatives.org Microsoft Security Essentials got its top rating.Previously it said that the software was very good at removing malware, but now it is saying that it is also the best in terms of performance too.The software has been available for testing since June, and its release comes about three weeks before the company's newest version of Windows, Windows 7, goes on sale Oct. 22. Security Essentials works with Windows XP (Service Packs 2 or 3), Windows Vista and Windows 7.
