Back at the beginning of the year, AMD launched a new flagship for its desktop processors. Being part of the Phenom II series, the x4 940 clocked at 3.0GHz revealed to be a great performer and overclocker. Later in February, a new batch of Phenom IIs had been launched. It consisted of the 2.6GHz x3 710, the 2.8GHz x3 720 Black Edition and the 2.6GHz x4 810. ASUS Maximus III GENE

The newest entry into ASUS' already huge lineup of socket LGA-1156 motherboards based on the Intel P55 chipset, is the new Republic of Gamers Maximus III Gene. Unlike the Maximus III Formula, this one is based on the micro-ATX form-factor, with four expansion slots in all, to spare. The LGA-1156 socket is powered by a high-grade 10-phase digital PWM circuit. It is wired to four DDR3 DIMM slots for dual-channel memory. With two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots (electically dual x8 when both populated) wired to the CPU, the board utilizes the feature-set of the P55 PCH completely.

GIGABYTE P55-UD6 (P55 Express) Motherboard

The P55-UD6 hosts tons of cool features, courtesy of the Intel P55 chipset and other third-party chips. One of the biggest improvements noticed with this particular board was the 24 phase power VRM design that should give extreme users unparalleled overclocking ability as well as lower temps to reach higher overclocks with LGA 1156 processors. Another feature that stood out to me on this unique board is Gigabyte's Smart 6 suite that includes six software utilities for giving users easier access to system management on their PCs.
