Obama's Twitter account hijacked by French hacker

According to Reuters, a 25 year old Frenchman successfully hacked into President Obama and Britney Spears' Twitter accounts. Using Twitter administrator passwords, the man was able to break into virtually anyone's account. Thankfully, the hacker was not able to extract their personal account information.


It seems that the hacker, who goes by the blatantly obvious hacker name, HackerCroll, was in it for the thrill--not the information. He wanted to show people, via screenshots that he was to post on the Internet, what he was able to accomplish.

"His aim wasn't to make money. It was simply to show that he was able to access accounts of Twitter members. And the best proof of that is that he did screen grabs of certain confidential data which he tried to post on blogs that are reserved for pirates or hackers."

In July 2009, the FBI was tipped of the hacker's activity by the French police. The man was arrested and questioned by French police. No name or further information has been made public.
