HP ProBook 4310s

The 4310s was designed to provide road warriors with a low-cost machine that still delivers solid performance. The ProBook family is HP's attempt to meet the needs of small and medium businesses. The key areas of difference between the EliteBooks and the ProBooks are that the ProBooks feature a mostly plastic construction rather than magnesium alloy and aluminum used in the EliteBooks. The plastics help lower the cost and weight of the notebook, and as a result the ProBook 4310s tips the scales at a modest 4.4 pounds as configured

Screen and Speakers
The ProBook 4310s comes equipped with a 13.3" anti-glare display with a 16:9 widescreen ratio. At 1366 x 768 pixels, this 720p high-definition display is perfectly usable and features good color and contrast. The LED-backlit panel offers excellent brightness and we typically left the brightness set to between 50% and 70% when using the notebook indoors.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The full-size keyboard on the 4310s is a chiclet style design and provides fantastic spacing between keys for typing. Each key is relatively flat with a nice matte texture and the keys sit above a glossy black support frame. The support frame surrounding the keys is quite firm thanks to the design of the chassis which adds additional support for the keyboard.

Ports and Webcam
The ProBook 4310s has a thorough selection of ports: Three USB 2.0 ports, VGA and HDMI output, Ethernet and modem jacks, a Kensington lock slot, and headphone and mic ports. It also has a 5-in-1 memory card reader and an ExpressCard/34 slot for low-profile mobile broadband cards. None of the ports are on the back; most are on the sides of the notebook, with the headphone and mic ports and the memory card reader located on the front.

The 2.0-megapixel webcam showed pleasant lighting in both still shots and VGA video.  Video captures looked smooth, but because it’s fixed focus, the image drifted in and out of focus

Performance:
The HP ProBook 4310s gets a performant processor of the current Penryn generation by Intel with the Core 2 Duo T6670 CPU. This CPU is found in the midfield of current mobile processors with two cores, 800 MHz FSB connection, and 2 MB L2-cache. A really decent performance reserve for a mobile 13.3" office device,

The ProBook 4310s is already equipped with the optimum of system memory of 3GB DDR3 in connection with the pre-installed Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit ex-factory.
The featured 320GB harddisk by Hitachi also shows appealing results in the HDTune benchmark test with a speed of 7200 rpm. The average transfer rates can thus be stated as 60.7 MB/s, and the accessing time is at attractive 16.5 milliseconds

Battery      4-cell (37 WHr) Lithium-Ion
